Welcome

This is the ATL page for Mr Andy Dorn for the ATL PD sessions. This page will be used to explore new ATL skillls and reflect upon the learning experience.

Here we go with the exploration of the leaning tools.

Bubbl.us

Bubbl.us is a web tool that allows you to create mind maps, either individually or online, and then save them as a PDF. It is very easy and fun to use and i think students would enjoy using it.

This is an example of a Bubbl.us mindmap that I created whist planning the new Globalization course for grade 10 Humanities.

iweb

iweb is a Mac program that allows for the easy creation of a website. Although I had never created a website before or read how to I found it relatively simple to create a site that included things like videos and widgets. I have not completed the whole site, I plan to work on it when (or if) I have more time. In my opinion Mac have created a great program. A link to my site is

imovie

I had tried to use imovie before but had rel problems as the application kept crashing all the time. There seems to have been an upgrade of imovie as today it worked fine. I had an ambitious idea to capture images from youtube using screenflow and then to combine them into a movie. Unfortunately i had problems with screenflow and by the time I tried to troubleshoot to fix this I had 5 minutes left to make a movie with imovie. Here is the result.

===iphoto===

Here is s screencast capture of a photobook I created using iphoto. Idid this back in May during the Spring Formal. I took the photos, automated photoshop to enhance the photos, and then created this photobook instantly before the formal had even finished. Cool technology!

===Google Maps===

I have just played around and have figured out how to embed google maps into a webiste. let's see if it works:

View Larger Map

The map is of Beidaihe, Qinghuandao and Shanhaiguan, i will visit these places on my grade 12 coastal fieldtrip next week. You need to click on larger image to see the whole map. Once again this is really cool technology, I just discovered that you can insert photos and wiki entries into google maps.

===Using Widgets===

I want to create my own website called adorngeo.com. I would like the centre piece of this to be a spinning Earth so I am practicing the use of widgets.
